Patrick Daigle Hardwood Flooring has all of the cleaning tips necessary to maintain a beautiful floor for years to come!
- Immediately wipe up spills and moisture on the surface.
- Dry vacuum or dust mop the wood surface to remove any dust or large particles.
- Remove heal marks and scuffs with an approved flooring cleaner.
- If the wood surface is urethane-protected, damp mopping can be done by hand or with a sponge-type applicator and a mild cleaning solution such as a diluted white vinegar-water solution (a cup of white vinegar to a gallon of water).
- Never use oil soaps or water base liquid waxes or cleaners on any wood floor. If waxing is desired, use only buffing or paste waxes with solvent bases.
- Often, a recoating may be all that is needed to restore a floor’s finish.? This should be done once the floor surface shows signs of wear. Don’t wait until the finish is worn to the bare wood. If you are in doubt, consult Patrick Daigle Hardwood Flooring.
- Hot, humid and damp weather can be very damaging to your wood floors, causing your wood to expand, cup and buckle. We recommend that the interior humidity level is within a prescribed range of 45 to 55 percent. We also recommend the following precautions:
- Use a dehumidifier
- Use an air conditioner
- Open windows on nice, dry days
- Keep windows closed when humidity is high (usually in the late afternoon)
- If your basement is damp, consider using a fan to blow the moist air out. It may be necessary to seal your concrete floors.
