Three-Season Porch Floor Refinishing in Glastonbury, CT

This was a great three-season porch project in Glastonbury, Connecticut, at a home where we've completed hardwood flooring work before.

The porch had modern fir flooring that had developed a very deep orange-red appearance. The homeowner wanted something lighter, cleaner and more up to date.

After professionally sanding the floor back to raw wood, we applied Bona NaturalSeal followed by three coats of Bona Mega waterborne finish.

What a difference.

The water-based system brought out the lighter, natural tones of the fir without adding the heavy amber color associated with traditional oil-based polyurethane. The grain and individual character of the boards now stand out beautifully.

Because this is a three-season porch with plenty of natural light, the wood itself can still change somewhat over time. However, the waterborne finish should remain much clearer without contributing the strong ambering of an oil-based finish.
