New Red Oak Hardwood Flooring at Great Pond in Glastonbury, CT

Great Pond in Glastonbury has been a great neighborhood for us over the years. We've worked in more than half of the homes here, both through Merritt Construction and Jacques Construction, as well as directly for private homeowners. It's one of those neighborhoods where we've been coming back for many years.

On this project, the homeowners wanted to add hardwood flooring throughout the upstairs. It was a pretty good-sized job—approximately 1,500 square feet of new select red oak.

Once we had the flooring installed, you could really see how beautiful the red oak looked in its natural, unfinished state. The homeowners liked that lighter color and didn't want to lose it by putting an oil-based finish over the floor and adding a lot of amber or orange.

So we went with Bona NaturalSeal and three coats of Bona Mega water-based finish.

It was the right choice for this house.

The finished floor stayed nice and light, and it really brightened the entire upstairs. You can see in the pictures how clean and natural the red oak looks without taking away the character of the wood.

The homeowners were very happy with how it came out, and I was too.
