Wide Pine Floor Refinishing in South Glastonbury, CT

Sometimes a small hardwood flooring project can produce one of the biggest transformations.

This project was in South Glastonbury, Connecticut, where the homeowner had a beautiful wide-board pine floor in an upstairs hallway. Several contractors weren't interested because the project was relatively small, but we met with the homeowner, looked at the floor and talked about the appearance they wanted.

The goal was to make the hallway lighter and brighter—but not too light.

After discussing the options, we decided against the lighter water-based direction. Instead, we used a commercial clear sealer followed by two coats of oil-based polyurethane to give the pine the warmth and depth the homeowner was looking for.

Once we sanded the old floor and started applying the finish, it was a real wow moment.

The wide pine boards had beautiful natural knots and character that had been hiding underneath the old finish. The new finishing system brought those features back to life while dramatically brightening the upstairs hallway.
